Dr. Pat Tille received her Ph.D in Biomedical Health Sciences from Sanford School of Medicine (Vermillion, SD), certificate in Medical Technology from Sanford and University Medical Center (Sioux Falls, SD) and her B.S. in Biology from the University of Sioux Falls (Sioux Falls, SD). Dr. Tille has been a medical laboratory scientist for more than 25 years, recently retiring as a Professor and Program Director of the Medical Laboratory Science Program at South Dakota State University. Dr. Tille is the editor and author of the internationally recognized diagnostic microbiology textbook, Bailey and Scott’s Diagnostic Microbiology, Elsevier Publishing Co. In addition to teaching hundreds of laboratory professionals in the past 25 years, Dr. Tille’s NIH funded research dealt with the formation of biofilm and persistent infections of methicillin resistant Staphylococcus spp. As the current Chair for IFBLS a non-governmental branch of the World Health Organization, Dr. Tille continues to advocate for antibiotic stewardship and patient safety concerns that impact patient care across the globe.
