Melanie is a medical laboratory science generalist with 20 years of clinical experience and 28 years of experience as an educator in medical laboratory science. She has worked and taught in every section of the laboratory. Her clinical experience includes every possible shift and laboratory department at a medical center, rural hospitals, and clinics. She was a program director for a hospital-based MLS program for ten years and has been a faculty member at a university-based MLS program since 2009. Melanie co-developed the University of Louisiana Monroe Medical Laboratory Science Program that graduated its first class in 2010. She was a member of the Consumer Information Team of the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS), answering chemistry questions from individuals submitted online. She has presented at local, regional and national conferences on immunology, chemistry and medical laboratory science education topics.
