Dr. Kathy Doig retired from Michigan State University, Biomedical Laboratory Science Program, after 36 years as a teacher and administrator in both the College of Human Medicine and the College of Natural Science.  She is board certified in hematology, which she taught to Medical Laboratory Science and medical students. Previously she worked in medical laboratories, including supervising a hematology department, and also as the director of a medical laboratory science educational program.  Dr. Doig was an inaugural member of the Consumer Information Team of the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS), answering hematology questions on-line from individuals about their laboratory results.  She has more than 60 publications, including multiple chapters in Rodak’s Hematology textbook where her focus is on anemias.  Dr. Doig is frequently invited to speak at conferences on hematology and medical laboratory education topics.
