Interests and Expertise

Dr. Gunsolus is the first advanced practice Doctor of Clinical Laboratory Science to graduate in the United States. She has more than 15 years of experience in the medical laboratory and has recently transitioned to a large academic medical center where, in addition to managing two laboratories, performs physician consultation and resident teaching on laboratory medicine. Dr. Gunsolus’ research interests are in laboratory-to-physician consultation and the its effect on healthcare quality and patient outcomes. She has also been a member of the Consumer Information Team of the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS), answering chemistry questions from individuals submitted online. She also spent 7 years traveling to patient’s homes teaching them and answering questions on the purpose and use their home diagnostics coagulation testing equipment. Dr. Gunsolus is frequently invited to speak on physician and patient consultation at meetings and conferences world-wide.
